Little Flower girl
I was thrilled and honoured to be invited to be guest designer over at pencil lines in November 2009 and this was my interpretation of sketch 163. The papers are Basi Grey Urban Prairie.
Happy Memories
This layout came about following a photo swap I did with my teamies over on UKS. Amanda sent me this photo of her as a little girl and I thought the Sassafrass Lass Vintage Yummy paper was perfect for the LO. I added a piece of paper from Sultane for the 'sky' some American Crafts butterflies and some Prima embellies. Finishing touches of lace and ribbon came from my stash and hand stitching round the 3 sides pulled everything together. I really like the nostalgic feel I managed to create with this layout ... and think Amanda liked it too! Try a photo swap with friends it's great fun!
Baby Cool
This is a layout of my cousins little boy in America. I haven't got to meet him yet but my cuz is great at sharing photos on line. The main bit of the photo is printed in colour and matted on to some PP, I've then positioned this in exactly the same place as it is on the black and white photo behind. I love this technique to highlight the important bit of a photo. The paper and coupons are from Sultane, I love their funkiness! and it is all based on some Urban prairie paper from Basic Grey. The chip lettering is naked woodware that I have covered in paper from the sultane range with a bit of distressing for good measure!
Cute as a {ella bella} button
Not to be left out this is the sister of the little man in baby cool. She'd been caught out stealing mums makeup from her bag LOL. All the papers are Urban Prairie from Basic Grey including the handcut flowers. I framed the piece with several layers of papers, ripping, tearing, rolling and distressing as I went to reveal all the layers underneath. I love this technique for adding texture and interest to a layout.
Dossier of me
This Lo was a bit of fun inspired by the idents in between programmes on the recent itv crime thriller series also it is a celebration of me getting to my goal weight and making a success of my decision to re-invent my life! The background is HOTP and I added ink, biro writing and coffee cup rings to make it look like an old desk! The rest of the embellishments are photographs that I cut out. As a stage manager I used to make lots of paper props so had great fun making up this case file of me including a 10 card downloaded from the internet, but note don't use permanent ink to take your own finger prints!
Stars
I love this photo of my husband taken on holiday in lanzarote he was actually sitting on the sea wall looking out to sea and when I found this poem I knew the words were perfect for the photo and for him. The poem is called Looking at stars by Phoebe Hesketh. I stretched some paper and papier mached it with blue tissue paper, creating a texture as I went. While the glue was wet I brushed some mica powder over it in places and sprinkled it in others. I then 'splattered' the stars in white paint. When it was dry I tore out the large star shapes backing the holes with a lighter blue paper and cut smaller silver stars to fit in to them. The photo I turned to black and white, tinted it in blue and cut it out, placing it on the 12x12 and doodling the white dots.
Silent Sea
Following the last LO I thought this would be a good place for this. A LO inspired by a challenge over at bad girls project 52 blog, a challenge by basic grey to use fabric and the KT tunstall song silent sea! I had so much fun with my fabric bag and my sewing machine for this one. Most of the fabric is from mexico, the fabric shops over there are amazing! I just layered it up and stitched it down. It's all stitched onto paper from the BG marrakesh range and I added a found photo of the boat and other bits aswell as shells, beads and charms from my stash.
I Love being me!!
I Love this photo of me and hubby taken on new years eve 08/09 I think it sums me up and inspired me to list all the things about me! I used found ephemera from the internet and my own doodles to make all the embellishments.
Clouds and Fluffy stuff
A little bit of light heartedness with this piece, and one of my favourite things paperdolls. I made my sister a xmas crad similar to this and my eldest niece liked it so much she wanted me to make this layout. The background PP is basic gey that I have chalked using a cloud mask that I made, and then I trimmed the top edge along the cloud line to add interest. The tre tops are cut from various pieces of basic grey paper and the guirls dresses are also BG. The rest is my own doodles and art metal wings that I made, finally I attached little bells to the ribbon legs as the little rhyme from it's a wonderfuil life came to mind!
His Pride and Joy
This is a layout I did for one of my guest spots over at It's a creative world in July 2009, step by step photos and instructions are available over there. The layout hopefully looks like a piece of rusty metal but is infact a piece of card covered in tin foil and then made rusty with acrylic paints, it's messy but great fun! The brads were added and further rust patches were built up. The photo is of my dad with his beloved landrover. I added a vintage ad and some Tim Holtz sprockets.
Keep a green tree in your heart
A layout inspired by the chinese proverb and my lovely niece. I've used loads of different papers on this, including BG, Rouge de Garance, Pink Martini, Arctic frog, and fancy pants. I've also included fancy pants felt embellishments, my own felt embellies and doodles and we r memory keepers chip tags. One of those LO's that makes me smile!
50
One of my Paper documentarys recording my hubby's 50th birthday. We were lucky enough to be in Mexico for it and I planned a whole day of surprises. I kept bus tickets, restraunt napkins, spa brochures, the treasure hunt scrolls I gave him and the champagne label. I told the story with little pics and this ephemera and added my handmade journalling blocks. We did have a great day!!
Playa Del Ninos
On holiday in Mexico ( I know again, again!!) We met a lovely Mexican family on the beach. Although we didn't speak a lot of each others language we did communicate through the children who were hilarious and very cheeky! This layout made form the marrakesh range from Basic Grey reminds me of that great day.
Sonar de la Mar (the sound of the sea)
One of those ideas that popped into my head and I just had to make!! Lots of doodling on cardboard, papier mached tissue paper layers, added layers of ephemera and more tissue paper, acrylic paint, glitter, mica and shells!! Embossed mermaid tails and photo heads cut out and ok I will admit it bodies collaged form magazine pics!!!
Life's a list!
Another bit of craziness. This came about at a particularly busy time when I looked at my studio and realised I'd nearly covered it in post it notes LOL I realised if I didn't have lists and post it's I'd be lost and thought it would be fun to record it! Again I've used a HOTP PP as the desk background and wanted to make it look like a working desk, making a paper doll out of all the bits knocking about, well it made me laugh!!!
